Even cheaper cuts of meat turn out tender. In fact, it's the best way I've seen to save on food bills. And you'll love the way it saves electricity because the crock pot uses such low wattage. Actually, it cooks all day for mere pennies.

Crock Pot Chicken

This chicken recipe is quite tasty with mushroom soup, onion soup, mushrooms and lots of yummy seasonings.

  • 3-4 chicken breasts
  • 2 cans mushroom soup
  • 1 env. Lipton onion soup mix
  • Pinch of oregano
  • Salt and pepper
  • 3/4 c. white wine
  • 1 can mushrooms
  • Pinch of tarragon
  • 1 (8 oz.) carton sour cream

Salt and pepper chicken, place in crock pot.

Mix together soup, white wine, onion soup mix, spices and mushrooms. Pour over chicken.

Cook in crock pot on high for 1/2 hour, reduce to low and cook 8 -10 hours.

About 1 hour before finishing, add sour cream.

Serve over cooked egg noodles.

Crock Pot Ribs

This crock pot rib recipe, is very moist and tender. Great served with baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad and hot crusty bread

  • 3 to 4 pounds spareribs
  • 1 16-ounce bottle of smoky barbecue sauce (or 2 cups homemade sauce)
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 onion, sliced

Sprinkle ribs with salt and pepper.

Place ribs in broiler pan under broiler for 30 minutes to brown and remove excess fat.

Put sliced onion in crock pot.

Slice ribs into serving pieces and put in crock pot

Pour in barbecue sauce.

Cover and cook on Low 8 to 10 hours. (High: 4 to 5 hours).

Crock Pot Dressing

This crock pot dressing recipe is a favorite recipe of my family, full of chicken and seasoned with onion, celery, bell pepper and sage.

  • 1 c. chicken (boiled and chopped
  • 1 lg. black skillet of cornbread
  • 2-3 c. chicken broth
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 can cream of celery
  • 1 can cream of chicken
  • 1 sm. onion
  • 1 stick butter (melted)
  • 4 slices bread
  • 1 c. chopped celery
  • Sage to taste
  • Bell pepper (if desired)

Mix together and cook in crock pot on high 3-4 hours or cook on low for 6 hours. You may also cook until you get the doneness you want.

Kitchen Tip: To check on the contents of the crock pot while they are cooking, spin the crock pot lid to dissipate the moisture rather than lifting it.

Each time lid is lifted heat escapes, and it takes about 30 minutes to regain the correct cooking temperature. When you add ingredients, have everything ready before you lift the lid.

Crock Pot Ham

This crock pot ham recipe is so moist and full of flavor. If you like ham you will love this recipe!

  • 3-5 lbs. canned ham
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/3 c. light corn syrup
  • 1 T. mustard
  • 1 T vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 1/8 tsp. cloves, ground

Line crock pot with aluminum foil (enough to cover ham completely).

Place ham in center of crock pot

Mix all other ingredients and spoon over ham.

Close foil around ham. Cover and bake 6 hours. Chill and slice to serve.

Kitchen Tip: A light coating of nonstick cooking spray inside the slow cooker makes it easy to clean. If pre-soaking is necessary, cool the cooker before filling with water.

Crock Pot Roast

This recipe for roast is moist and tender, cooked with mushroom soup, onion soup, potatoes, carrots and celery.

  • Roast of your choice
  • 1 can mushroom soup
  • 1 pkg. Lipton onion soup
  • 3 med. potatoes
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 2 ribs of celery from stalk

Season roast to your taste. Place in crock pot.

Mix soup together with 1/2 cup water; pour over roast; cook on hight for 2 hour; add potatoes, carrots, onions, and celery.

Put crock pot on low heat and cook until done.

Crock Pot Beef Stew

All You need is a pan of southern style cornbread, a glass of sweet tea, and maybe some pecan pie for dessert. Best meal ever!

  • 2 pounds stew beef, cut in 1-inch cubes
  • 10 oz. peas, frozen
  • 1 c. onion, chopped
  • 2 c. carrots, sliced 1 inch thick
  • 2 c. potatoes, diced
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. parsley, chopped (or 1 bay leaf)
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup

Make Ahead Tip - A light coating of nonstick cooking spray inside the slow cooker makes it easy to clean. If pre-soaking is necessary, cool the cooker before filling with water.

Prepare the vegetables the night before, cover them with water and refrigerate. Before leaving the house in the morning, simply drain and discard the water, then combine the vegetables with the other ingredients.

Put ingredients into crock pot in order given. Cook on low for 8-10 hours. (May also be cooked in 275 degree oven for 5 hours.)

Crock Pot Steak

This Crock Pot Steak recipe, really fills up a hungry family.

  • 1 1/2 lb. chuck or round steak, cut in strips
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 or 2 green peppers, sliced
  • 1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
  • 3 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1/3 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms, drained
  • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen green beans, French style

Put steak strips, flour, salt and pepper in crock pot. Stir well to coat steak.

Add remaining ingredients.

Cover and cook on low 8 hours (high for 4 hours). Serve with rice.

Crock Pot Lasagne

This Crock Pot Lasagna is delicious served with a green salad and garlic bread.

  • 1 10-ounce package broad lasagna noodles broken into bite-size pieces
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 12 ounces Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 12-ounce carton cottage cheese
  • 2 6-ounce cans tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons dried parsley flakes

Cook noodles according to package directions until tender; drain.

Brown ground beef and sausage. Drain. Place in lightly greased crock pot.

Add all remaining ingredients. Stir to mix thoroughly.

Cover and cook on Low up to 9 hours. (High: 3 to 5 hours).

Crock Pot Spaghetti

This is a great recipe to bring to a church function, family reunion or a office party.

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons dry minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 4-ounce can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 3 cups tomato juice
  • 4 ounces dry spaghetti (1 1/2 cups) broken in 4" to 5" pieces

Brown ground beef in skillet and place in crock pot. Add all remaining ingredients except dry spaghetti; stir well.

Cover and cook on Low 6 to 8 hours. (High: 3 to 5 hours). Turn to High last hour and stir in dry spaghetti. Serves 4.

Crock Pot Meatloaf,

This Crock Pot Meatloaf, was a favorite of my Grandma's she served it with macaroni and cheese, green beans, corn salad and cornbread. She never failed to serve a peach cobbler with this delicious meal.

  • 2 pounds ground chuck
  • 1/2 cup green pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup cracker crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 packet (7/8-ounce) brown gravy mix
  • 1 cup milk
  • 6 to 8 small potatoes, cut into bite size pieces

Mix all ingredients, except potatoes, in large bowl. Shape into a loaf. Place in crock pot.

. Place potatoes at the sides of loaf. (If potatoes are peeled, wrap in foil to keep from darkening).

Cover and cook on Low 8 to 10 hours. (High: 4 to 6 hours).

VARIATION - Omit gravy mix and milk-add one 8-ounce can tomato sauce. Stir half into remaining ingredients. Shape into loaf and place in crock pot. Pour remaining sauce over top of loaf and bake as directed above.
