Fried Green Tomatoes
Fried green Tomatoes are a southern favorite.]]>
- 2 large green tomatoes sliced 1/4 in thick
- 2 eggs beaten
- 1/2 cup oil (add more if needed)
- 1/2 cup corn meal
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp. each salt and pepper (you may use onion salt if you wish)
Mix all together for breading
Slice tomatoes, dip each slice in beaten eggs then in breading.
Heat oil until very hot.
Turn heat to medium
Place tomatoes face down in oil cook until golden brown, using a fork pierce tomatoes while frying.
Pick up each tomato with a spatula, to drain oil. Place each tomato slice on paper towel to drain of grease.
