Turnip Green Dip - Country Cooking
This easy party dip appetizer for Turnip Green Dip is a hit at game day parties, tailgating, or family gatherings. Great served with corn chips or Tostitos.
A Southern favorite!
- 1/2 cup finely chopped celery
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 3-oz can mushrooms, drained
- 1 10-oz package frozen chopped turnip greens
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 6-oz roll garlic cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon grated lemon rind
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- hot pepper sauce (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Saute onion and celery in butter until tender. Stir in mushrooms and set aside.
Cook turnip greens according to package directions and drain well.
Combine turnip greens with the lemon rind in the bowl of a food processor and
process until smooth.
In the top of a double boiler, add all of the sauteed vegetables, pureed turnip
greens, soup, cheese, worcestershire and hot pepper sauce, stirring until
mixture is well blended and heated.
Serve hot with corn chips.
