Salad Dressing Recipes - Classic Dressings & Fruit Dips

Superb salad dressings to compliment our large selection of salads.

As salads make the meal, try one of these recipes for the finishing touch for your salad greens and for fruit dip.

Our dressings include herb, buttermilk, roquefort or blue cheese, fruit salad, poppy-seed salad dressing heath bar fruit dip, honey lime fruit dip.

I hope you enjoy these dressing and dips as much as my family does.

Herb Dressing

Herb Dressing is full of tasty seasonings, such as parsley, chives, oregano, garlic and crumbled bacon. Delicious on a green salad.

  • 1 tablespoon bacon bits or 1 strip bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon freeze-dried chopped chives
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, cut in half (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar or white vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil

Measure vinegar in 1 cup measuring cup or 1/2 pint jar with lid; add all ingredients except oil and mix very well.

Add oil, mix well and refrigerate.

Buttermilk Salad Dressing

This Buttermilk Salad Dressing, is delicious served with a chef salad, green salad or a spinach salad, or your own personal favorite. Down south we like to dip just about anything in this salad dressing.

  • 1/3 c. buttermilk
  • 2 c. mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp. white vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1 1/2 tsp. honey
  • 4-5 cloves minced garlic
  • 1/3 c. vegetable oil
  • 3/4 tsp. prepared mustard
  • 1/2 tsp each salt and pepper

Mix together mayonnaise and buttermilk.

Stir in remaining ingredients using a fork or a whisk.

Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 min. before using.

Balsamic Vinaigrette

Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing is simply delicious and it's great on a green salad, a spinach salad or any salad greens of your choice. It also makes a great marinade for grilled or baked chicken.

  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon freshly chopped chives, parsley or tarragon
  • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar or wine vinegar
  • 4 tablespoons cooking or olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

Combine all ingredients except oil in 1/2 pint jar with lid, mix well; then add oil.

Refrigerate. Makes 1/2 cup.

French Dressing

French Dressing is simple to make and delicious on tossed salad greens. All the different zesty flavors blend together so well.

  • 1/2 cup cooking oil
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/3 cup chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar or wine vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Combine all ingredients in a 2 cup bowl or 1 pint jar with lid.

Refrigerate to chill

Blue Cheese Dressing

Blue Cheese Dressing or Roquefort Cheese Dressing is delicious served over your favorite salad greens, it's also great as a dip for vegetables and chips..

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • Dash of garlic salt
  • 1/4 cup crumbled Roquefort or Blue Cheese
  • Few drops of Tabasco
  • Few drops of Worcestershire
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon freeze dried chives (optional)

In a 1 1/2 cup bowl mix all ingredients except cheese together.

Fold in cheese. Refrigerate. Makes 1 cup.

Poppy Seed Dressing

Poppy Seed Dressing is a delicious addition to almost any type vegetable salad.

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2/3 cup white or wine vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons onion juice
  • 2 cups salad oil
  • 3 tablespoons poppy seeds

Mix sugar, mustard, salt and vinegar in deep narrow bowl. Add onion juice and stir.

Slowly add oil, beating constantly until thickened. If using an electric mixer, place on medium speed.

Stir in poppy seeds and store in refrigerator until ready to use.

Stir well and allow to reach room temperature before serving. Makes 3 1/2 cups

Honey Lime Dip

Honey Lime Dip, perfectly sweet fruit dip with a hint of lime. Delicious served with a fruit salad, made of bananas, red or green apples, strawberries and fresh melon.

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream whipped or 1/4 cup low calorie dessert topping mix whipped with 1/4 cup cold milk
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice

Combine all ingredients in 2 cup bowl or 1/2 pint jar with lid.

Refrigerate to chill

Heath Bar Dip

This heath bar dip is my absolute favorite. A friend brought it to a party, about a year ago, and it's the only fruit dip I will ever use. It's great with strawberries, kiwi, bananas and apples.

  • 1/2 bag heath bits (or as much as you want)
  • 1 8 oz. package cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Allow cream cheese to soften

Mix the cream cheese with white and brown sugar and heath bits.

I promise this is an excellent fruit dip.

Pineapple Fruit Dip

This Pineapple Fruit Dip is very simple to prepare. It was given to me from a friend, she makes it to serve with delicious fresh fruit, vanilla wafers, graham crackers or whatever you choose.

  • 1 small tub cool whip
  • 1 small box jell-o sugar free vanilla instant pudding
  • 1 16 oz can Dole Crushed Pineapple, undrained

Mix undrained crushed pineapple with dry pudding mix, fold in cool whip.

Chill until ready to serve.
