Petunias : Extraordinary Plants

petunia

How many plants come with a tsunami warning? Gardeners using Wave petunias are advised to plant and step back, way back!

Gardeners familiar with Wave varieties know that they are not your grandmother’s variety. Now the key is to harness the flower power of these foaming, frothing wonders to create unusual effects in the garden.

The Tidal Wave variety can travel up fences or trellises to a height of three feet. Making it easy to hide a chain link fence with lots of color and less mess than the standard morning glory solution.

Wave petunias make a great groundcover, delivering a continuous carpet of blooms.

Easy Wave varieties are a little more mounding than their sister Wave varieties, but no less vigorous. They soon overflow containers with reckless abandon. They can also hide the ugly legs of roses and perennials.

You could also combine the three varieties from the Ride The Wave series in a tiered effect to create a terrace.

You might thing these beauties were high maintenance, but nothing could be further from the truth. They stand up to heat and bounce right back after a storm without a whimper. Pinching isn't really necessary, but they will grow more bushier if you do decide to pinch. You wont even have to dead head either; these bold bloomers don’t need this extra maintenance to keep looking great. "WOW"

With so many colors to choose from -- like all shades of pink, cool blue and white, passionate purple, elegant silvery lilac -- the color combinations offer unlimited possibilities.

If you haven’t experienced Wave petunias yet, now is the time to get your feet wet. Or better yet, dive in head first. You’ll be rewarded with oceans of color.
