Make Your Carpet Last Longer
Carpet Maintenance
Your carpet needs daily care to guard it against the normal wear and tear of daily use.
Here are some suggestions to help maintain and care for your carpet.
Rearrange Your Furniture
Your rug will be worn down faster where people walk.
It is good idea to rearrange your furniture at least once a year to change the traffic pattern in your house.
Vacuum Regularly
Dirt will wear down the rugs fibers. Vacuum regularly and place a decorative mat at your home's entrances.
High traffic areas often need vacuuming once a day while low traffic areas can possibly be vacuumed only once a week.
Area Rugs
Depending on how your house is laid out you may have high traffic areas regardless of how your furniture
is arranged. Area rugs will be perfect in these areas.
Keep the dirt outside the house
Keep the walk ways leading into your home swept. This will cut down tremendously on the amount of dirt
tracked into your home.
Shampoo Rugs
Rugs should be shampooed at least once a year. Consult your manufacturers guide for what type of
detergent and cleaning equipment would be best to use.
Spill Awareness
Treat spills as soon as they happen for the best chance of avoiding a stain.
If you have kids, make sure they know to immediately let you know if they have spilled
something so the stain will not have time to set in.
Snip Loose Threads
If you have a loose thread that sticks up above the fiber, you should snip the thread with scissors,
instead of pulling on the thread. If you pull on the thread you may pull out more than just the one thread.
Designate Eating Areas
Many food spills can introduce oils, which will attract dirt and cause a dingy looking carpet.
The less you eat in these areas the better your chances are of avoiding these types of spills.
