Blinds-Shades...Window Dressings

window blinds

Blinds-shades are window coverings that offer versatility. They have vertical or horizontal slats that can be rotated for maximum light and privacy control. The slats can be made from aluminum, wood, or fabric. The slats or material can easily be rotated for your choice of privacy and light control.

Vertical blinds operate similar to drapery; they can be opened from the center and stack as a pair on both sides of the window, or they can draw from one side and stack as a panel.

Horizontal blinds are drawn up and can be easily hidden beneath a top treatment or valance.

Cellular shades insulate windows with pockets of trapped air with an innovative fabric shade that has been constructed from honeycomb-shaded cells. The honeycomb structure of this shade is visible only from the side. When a cellular shade is closed the front appears to be a cascade of crisp pleats. When the cellular shade is opened they fold up neatly along the pleat lines to the top of the head-rail.

Fabric shades are generally raised and lowered by gathering or folding fabric to the top. Pleated shades are fabric shades that are made from a crisply pleated material closely resembling cellular shades.

Roman shades are fabric shades that fold to the top when drawn open. A flat roman shade has no folds when lowered, while roman shades has overlapping folds when the shade is lowered,

Room darkening fabric is a term that refers to fabric that has been treated or is constructed to block out a large portion of the sunlight, providing a "room darkening" effect. This type of fabric is used primarily in bedrooms, but has applications in a variety of rooms.

Shades are window coverings that are made of material, which can be pleated permanently like that of a cellular or pleated shade, or they can be a drapery fabric like that of the roman shade. These shades are \drawn up and stacked at the top of the window. Shades can be raised or lowered to accommodate the amount of light or privacy as you choose. They can be stopped at any location on the window, and still maintain a neat, finished look.

Stack refers to the amount of space a treatment uses when drawn to reveal your window. Top treatment most commonly referred to as a valance is any treatment that is used over the "top" of another. Window shadings refers to a category of fabric blinds which combine the elegance of sheer fabrics with the features of a horizontal shade.
